For so many years, AIDS has been a serious health issue. And because of fear from getting the virus, myths were formed about HIV and AIDS. Many people believe that only homosexuals can be infected by HIV. But the fact is, it can occur to anyone regardless of their sexual orientation. Also, some believe that monogamy will lower the risk of getting the disease. But the truth is, not everyone are faithful to their spouses. In fact, some hide the truth. A woman can acquire the virus from her spouse, and vise-versa.
HIV cannot live on a toilet seat. But it can be transmitted through unprotected sexual activity with a HIV-positive partner, an infected needle, child birth, and blood transfusion. Also, some still believe that they don't have to use a condom during sexual intercourse. But actually, the use of condom is and advisable preventive measure against HIV. And the greatest myth of all is that death comes in a matter of days upon infection of HIV. The truth according to modern Science, advanced medicines and treatment programs are helping people with HIV to enjoy normal, healthy, and productive lives; although the cure has not yet discovered. Hence, proper education is needed to understand more about HIV and AIDS.

We all know that a well-balanced diet is always good for everyone. Nutrient-rich meals, fibrous fruits, fresh vegetables, and clean drinking water are important in maintaining a proper diet. However, extra caring and nourishment are important for HIV/AIDS patients. Actually, they can eat any food they want to eat, but caution must be observed in the way their food is prepared.
Preparing a meal for AIDS patients requires extra careful due to their delicate physical condition. It is because HIV/AIDS victims are more vulnerable to any kind of infection, including food-related diseases. Raw or unpasteurized milk and uncooked eggs must NOT be served to them. A bacterium called Salmonella is found in raw meats (specially chicken and eggs) which causes food-borne diseases. This bacteria may cause grave complications to people living with AIDS, and treatment can be very difficult. Also, they can get Campylobacter jejuni bacteria from contaminated cheese and milk. Uncooked beef, pork, fish, or sea foods are NO, NO for them. Fresh, cleaned fruits and vegetable are good to include in their meals. Washing of hands before and after food preparation is necessary. Cooking, storing, and serving of meals should be handled properly.

AIDS issues should be given proper attention in the workplace. This is because, many employees have doubts (and fear) that they may be infected by HIV infected co-employees, even without direct sexual contacts or blood transfusions. Hence, several HIV/AIDS infected workers are experiencing serious discrimination and rejection from their co-employees. But because they need to sustain their medicines and treatment requirements, HIV/AIDS infected staff continue their employment.
However, employers and corporate executives can help solve this problem. Employers and non-HIV infected employees should give due respect and concerns to employees with HIV or AIDS. Employers can create programs that will help their employees to understand the possible transmission of the virus, and to know some ways to prevent the spread. And health workers can participate in the programs, too. They can monitor the status of employees with AIDS, and help in providing some relevant information on AIDS awareness. Comprehensive AIDS education and prevention programs can benefit both HIV and non-HIV infected staff. And every worker must know how to respond to STDs, particularly to AIDS. However, employers must check if programs are effective to every staff, and changes must take place if necessary.

AIDS is one grave health and social issue. Aside from drug addiction, HIV/AIDS has been affecting the health of many nations. In America alone, millions of people are living with HIV and AIDS, and some have died due to complications of this disease. Until today, science and modern technology can't find a way to cure this killer disease. The virus attacks the immune system of the person, thus he can't protect his body from serious infections and certain tumors.
AIDS can infect the eyes of the patients, too. About 75% of HIV infected people have eye problems of some sort. In fact, any area of this vital organ of an HIV infected person can be harmed. The problem can be mild or serious. Many HIV/AIDS patients have infections on retina, and this can lead to more severe infections. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis is an infection in the retinal area. Actually, CMV can rarely cause harm except for people with weak or damaged immune system. CMV harms the retinal cells, and can cause blindness if can't be treated. Other eye complications that may be related to AIDS are Kaposi's sarcoma, a rare kind of cancer, and herpes zoster ophthalmicus.

Today, several families are suffering from the HIV and AIDS. Some parents got the disease through sexual activities, while others were victimized due to medical malpractice, or needle sharing. But whatever is the cause of getting the disease, HIV or AIDS is one of the most serious problems in many countries; including United Kingdom. And sad to speak, children are always the innocent victims of the consequences. Usually, they experience social and psychological trauma in their communities.
Unfortunately, many victims of AIDS are not financially stable. Thus, to answer the needs of many parents who have either HIV or AIDS, several AIDS support groups and charity institutions were established. These support organizations were created to provide financial, emotional, social, and even spiritual supports for the families with parents who have AIDS. And one of the charities that was formed in UK for the benefits of AIDS victims is the Children with AIDS Charity. This national institution was organized in year 1992 to assist the children who have a family member living with AIDS or HIV. Its Hardship and Respite Breaks Project provide assistance to these families through transportation, education, day trips, workshops, fund raising projects, and other services.

Human Immuno Deficiency may be the worst diseases contracted by anyone. In fact, having HIV is almost the same as developing other terminal illnesses such as cancer. For, what could be worse other than being told by a doctor that you have acquired the dreadful disease? If you are a patient or if you are aware of someone else suffering the disease, then you must know what it is like to live with HIV.
Surviving HIV is a one of the hardest and often most discouraging battles. The treatment of some society members toward you changes. You body slowly degenerates. Yet you have to be strong enough to face both your internal and external struggles. Sad to say that this part is often where the difference lies. Some people survive courageously while others don't.
Getting HIV is not the end of everything. Of course, it will always remind you what you have done wrong in the past. Yet it is also the perfect time to learn and pick up yourself. HIV may eventually destroy your body, but definitely not your dignity. The spreading virus in your body can never reduce your value. As such, continue to live with hope. The ongoing medical research and the support of family and friends serve as proofs that there is life after HIV.

Until today, there is no available treatment for the HIV disease. There are drugs that can prevent the fast spread of the disease, but it cannot completely cure HIV. The only way to treat patients is to undergo therapy. Thus, HIV and AIDS are still prevalent in the African countries where access to medical facilities and treatment are both poor and difficult. Each year, there are five million people around the globe who are infected by the virus.
The World Health Organization is working hard to prevent the spread of the disease. It is engaged in massive campaign on how to prevent disease. Various studies have been made on how to cure this killer disease. However, the programs for these efforts are quite successful in controlling the spread of HIV. There is one research study that says that number of infected patients had decreased. Also, there is a decreased number of casualties of infected pregnant women. The countries with declining number of cases are Zambia, Uganda, India, Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi, Haiti, and Zimbabwe. The only thing we can do to help stop the spread of the disease is to make ourselves free of the virus. Always keep in mind that living healthy ways is the best protection.

So, you just found out you're HIV-positive or a friend of yours did. What should you do? Who should you tell? Don't panic, it's a serious matter but it has therapy. If you're still too hesitant, ask for a second opinion from another doctor or go to a support group. The people in an HIV AIDS support group also knows best.
Being HIV-positive, you still have a lot of chance to lessen or prevent the disease's health effects on your body. There are so many testing clinics on HIV AIDS, you still have a lot of chance to maintain your health. There are support groups and AIDS campaigns to promote awareness and to inform the people that we can all fight this killer disease. All i'm saying is, you're not alone in this fight, instead of hiding it, do something about it. As they say, we can prevent this, we can stop the spread of AIDS.

Do you know that it's easier for men to transmit the HIV infection to women than women transmitting the HIV infection to men? The women are much more prone to this infection, that's why it's a must for everyone to use protection. The men's protection, such as the condom protects the men more, while the women's protection condom does not really ensure 100% safety for the women.
HIV AIDS is not just a gay man's disease, it's transmittable to anyone, even the children. Women who carry the infection automatically passes it on to the child that she bears. The effects and symptoms of HIV AIDS on women differ from the men's symptoms, some signs may be the same, but usually, it's more obvious on women. There's a lot of problems, like gynecological problems, and many more. Although, the viral infection shows more on the men in the first few years of HIV infection. So, as always, be safe. HIV AIDS should be prevented, if not stopped and cured.

Twenty years ago, the world woke up to the discovery of a new disease that would eventually become one of the world's deadliest killers. At first it was known as a variant of Kaposi Sarcoma (KS), a relatively benign form of cancer that usually occurs in old people. But during 1981, several young gay men of New York started developing an aggressive form of KS. At the same time, the number of patients suffering a rare lung infection, Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP), increased significantly.
This was how America's awareness for AIDS came about, soon after the world followed. It is common knowledge that AIDS come from HIV, but what exactly is HIV? Human immunodeficiency virus is the name of the retrovirus that causes AIDS. This virus is responsible for weakening the immune system to a point that it the body can no longer fight even the simplest illness or infection.
