Every year, millions of people add to the long list of HIV and AIDS victims. The spread of HIV from one person to another seems unstoppable. It's because there are several HIV infected people who are unaware that they are carrying the virus. Unfortunately, even expectant women can bring and pass this detrimental virus to their unborn babies. That's why, in today's generation, many children are suffering from the complications of AIDS. But what a mother should do if she is diagnosed as positive for carrying HIV? When the expectant mother is informed that she has the virus, she must consult her physician for her treatment regularly.
The modern medicines and Science are helping the victims of HIV/AIDS to slow down the effect and spread of the virus in their bodies. There are recommended HIV-fighting medicines appropriate for HIV-infected people. And so, even pregnant women can take advantage these drugs to help them enjoy their pregnancy, and prevent the infection from passing to unborn babies. However, the mother must strictly follow the recommendations of her doctor regarding the treatment and drugs. And by knowing the modern method to deliver the child can also give protection to the baby. Continuous examination of the mother's condition is always necessary to save the unborn child from possible infections.

HIV testing is provided in hospitals and clinics to detect signs of the virus. Fortunately there are HIV treatment programs for HIV patients. Although the cure that can totally eliminate the virus has not yet been discovered, special treatments and medications are provided to help people with HIV to enjoy their lives longer. But the problem is, not all HIV positives can afford the costs of treatment programs. That's why it's recommended that the patient must learn to communicate his financial condition with his physician. And if you are suffering this same difficulty, transparency can be a solution.
Before going to hospital, call the doctor first and ask about his professional fee. It is very important because fee is always included after medical session. It is important to inquire about the charges to estimate your budget for treatment. And if you are working, ask the physician if your health insurance can be honored. In addition, be honest about your true financial situation. And if the doctor can't provide you a quality therapy or treatment due to your limited financial resources, it's wise not to continue the appointment. Search for another physician that can provide quality treatment despite of your financial limitations.

Finding treatment for AIDS is like searching for the pot of gold at the rainbow's end. AIDS or Acquired Immunodeficiency syndrome is the worst and serious stage of the disease triggered by the quickly mutating HIV or Human Immunodeficiency virus. The said disease is said to be the leading cause of death today aside from diabetes, heart attack and cancer.
The World Health Organization (WHO) have been coordinating with national leaders to form groups that will disseminate information about the fatal malady. The television, radio, newspapers and even the Internet have been bombarded with information regarding AIDS. Even in films that promote social awareness, AIDS has become a favorite topic. A perfect example is the Evita Peron movie topbilled by Madonna.
In last year's International AIDS Society Conference held in Brazil, experts presented a study about the role of circumcision in decreasing the danger of having the disease. On a study centered on exactly 3,273 African men, 63 percent of circumcised men who had sex with women that are HIV-positive have lesser risk of acquiring HIV virus than those who are uncircumcised. The surgery can also prevent other STD like herpes and syphilis.
Male circumcision is where an incision is made around the base of the foreskin, the foreskin is pulled back, and then it is cut away from the tip of the penis. Stitches are used to close the skin edges. Health experts said that it could be a compelling way to lessen the transmission of the disease. However, it is only in the United States where the medical surgery is prevalent. Some parts of Asia, Europe and Africa do not have such practice. This is why health officials are planning to intensify the campaign on the surgery especially now that it has proven to be a strong method against AIDS.

The number of people infected with HIV and AIDS continuously grow in rapid succession. I felt really bad that such disease is still incurable. Once, I open my e-mail, I received an invitation from www.one.org to join the organization in pursuit of helping AIDS victims. On one side, it featured a Hope page that talks of a certain medicine called Zidovudine.
The drug is considered an antiretroviral medicine which does the job of blocking an infection-bearing protein, thus preventing it to replicate. Unfortunately, the Zidovudine does not guarantee cure nor helps reduce infection. The drug is used merely as vaccine so as to prepare the healthy body cells from for possible infection.
Zidovudine is recommended mostly to pregnant women so their infants will not inherit the disease. The babies were also given the drug until they are six months. It is really dreadful if we come to realize that there is no hope, yet, for AIDS sufferers. I am thankful that I live in a community that is not ignorant of the threat the disease carries with it. I believe that prevention is better than cure, and even without such drug, we can still win the battle against AIDS.

Food and water are essential needs of every individual. Sick people need proper amount of food as well as a complete dietary program to help them in coping with illness. However, in many occasions, improper diet brings more destructions than help to a person. Thus, balanced nutrition is necessary for every one, particularly for individuals with HIV and AIDS.
If you have the virus, you must be careful with the food you eat, and the water you drink. Eat clean, cooked, and nutritious foods. You can protect yourself from harmful bacteria that can cause infection by preparing your food and drinks properly.
Sexually transmitted disease, like HIV, can deteriorate man's immune system; and raise the requirement for energy. Food can help the person to defend himself from severe infections of HIV and AIDS. Although food and water are not replacements for medicine, still they provide solid protection that makes the ill-person feels better. Well-prepared food, safe drinks, clean hygiene, and suitable care help the victims of HIV/AIDS to survive with a healthier feeling, stick on therapies and medicines, and be positive in life.

Although there is no ultimate cure yet for HIV, there is hope. Similar to the dreaded cancer disease, there are actually measures that could combat the symptoms or other illnesses that come with HIV. These illnesses, often called opportunistic infections, when fought or prevented could reduce one's risk to HIV.
Perhaps, you have already heard of antiretroviral drugs which are commonly used in an HIV treatment therapy labeled as HAART or highly active antiretroviral therapy. Although these drugs cannot totally stop the virus from spreading, it can actually help in alleviating the suffering of the HIV victim. How? Antiretroviral drugs slow the development of opportunistic infections such as hepatitis C or HCV, which is one of the leading causes of death for HIV victims in the United States alone.
Patients who have undergone such therapies were also shown to have stronger immune systems and less exposure to microorganisms that cause co-infections like bacteria, fungi, and other viruses. Coupled with the right nutritious diet, these drugs could greatly impact the quality of a patient's life. There may be no more pain and no more ridicule. How's that for an exchange?

It is a widely accepted fact that for now, there is no cure for AIDS. It’s a bitter pill, but it’s one that should be swallowed. The only hope for AIDS victim is to undergo therapy. One of the treatments that can be used to combat problems with AIDS is the Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy (HAART.) Simply put, HAART is a treatment where the combination of several, three or more, anti-retroviral drugs is used. Although this could give hope to most AIDS victim, it is still uncertain if HAART is recommended. There are many adverse side-effects that a patient may feel if he or she undergoes HAART.
The biggest issue doctors have when recommending HAART is the acceptance of the drugs involved. The side-effect that comes with this kind of therapy is long and extensive list, but one of the most common problems caused by HAART is myopathy, or muscle damage. The brain and the rest of the nervous system are also damaged by HAART. Another problem with HAART is that it should be taken for a lifetime. With the ill side-effect that is connected to this therapy, a patient may end up wishing that he or she was dead.

Although no cure for AIDS has been developed, there are certain drugs that can inhibit the activity of retroviruses, like HIV - the causative virus for AIDS. These drugs are called anti retrovirals. Basically, anti retrovirals prevents the replication of the virus in the body.
There are different kinds of this drug and several health organizations recommend anti retroviral treatment to all patients with HIV. Although this is not a complete cure, continued use of this drugs, especially in combination therapy, will slow down the progression of the disease.

HIV cannot be cured until now, but it can be suppressed, with the right medications, the HIV infected person can at least or can somehow be relieved of the virus' negative effects on the body. You just have to know the treatment which best serves and suits your body. HIV infected people must know the right amount of dosage for their medication, how many times should they ingest the pills, and if the medications do not conflict with each other. Awareness is really the key to combat this disease, and living a healthy life.
